Assistant/Associate/Full Professor

Late Imperial Chinese Literature

 

The Department of Asian Languages & Cultures (http://www.alc.ucla.edu/) at the University of California, Los Angeles, invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in late imperial Chinese literature. The Department of Asian Languages and Cultures also welcomes applicants who are associate professors or full professors to apply. This position will begin in July 2016. Priority will be given to those candidates who have research expertise in the Yuan, Ming, and Qing periods, particularly with a focus on narrative and dramatic literature. Also strongly desirable is training in comparative, interdisciplinary, and transnational methodologies. An ability to work with faculty and students not only in Chinese studies, but also in Korean, Japanese, and South/Southeast Asian studies will be considered favorably. The successful candidate will be expected to sustain an active research and publication schedule, teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, provide service to the department and campus, and demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity-related teaching, research, and/or service. Women and minority candidates are especially encouraged to apply.

 

Applicants should have a PhD in hand or be expected to have the PhD by July 2016. Salary is commensurate with experience.
