Tammie Tran is an instructor at UCLA and teaches Vietnamese courses to heritage and non heritage language learners at the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures (ALC). She has a B.A. in English and a B.S. in Business Administration. She earned an M.A. in Linguistics at California State University, Fullerton. She holds a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics, TESOL. In addition to presentations at California State University symposiums, she hosts conferences and presents frequently at different types of conferences on theoretical and applied linguistics (University of California conferences, UC Language Consortium, International Conferences on World Languages, COTSEAL (Council of Teachers of Southeast Asian Languages) conferences, CCCFLC (California Community College Foreign Language Council) conferences, CATESOL, and TESOL conferences, etc. She has been teaching Vietnamese and English as a second language since 1994. She has done research studies and published articles on second and heritage language acquisition and pedagogy. She has authored and co-authored several textbooks.
