Christina Seoyoung Jang is a Ph.D. student in modern and contemporary Korean literature. Grounded in queer theory and transgender studies, their research explores representations of transness in Korean literary and cultural texts from the early modern period to the present. Her current interests include gender transitivity in the making of Korean modernity; theorizations of temporality, affect, and orientation in trans life writing; narrative strategies of transition in realist and speculative fiction; the (un)translatability of transgender across linguistic and cultural contexts; and transfeminist agendas within trans/gender/queer activism in contemporary South Korea. Christina holds a B.A. in English language and literature from Korea University.
